Podcamp AZ
Nov 2nd
This is where I’ll be all day tomorrow. No WI3D podcasting because we’ll all be at this unconference. It sounds like so much fun.
Now I can’t find the frakking map. Darnit. I’ll figure it out. I just remember an email with specific parking instructions and now I can’t find that. Now I remember why I hadn’t registered yet. There are like, 4 different places you have to go to online to figure all this stuff out. They have a beautiful site (linked above) that could have this information but they’ve chosen to go with a wiki that is confusing as hell, and if you want to add your name to anything on that wiki you have to register at yet ANOTHER site. Geeze. I’m not a frakking techtard, but damn couldn’t they have made this easier? Aw crap, now I found the link to the gorram Google group. Gimme a break.
ONE SITE. All this should be on ONE SITE! Well, I’ll be in good company anyway. If I can find the place.
Deadpan is the Motherfucking Way
Oct 27th
Except this week apparently. Listening to Jack Mangan’s Deadpan podcast #80 this morning.
First there’s the 1:20 dead air at the beginning. What’s up with that?
But to make up for it, Jack played most of Kermit singing It Ain’t Easy Being Green. Or rather, It Ain’t Easy Being Deadpan.
And Really Big Things? Dude, johnboze aka Paul Maki, let us know when there is someplace to can get that all in one place. I didn’t pay attention months ago and eventually all I got was lost and now that its done I can’t tell you what it was about. But what I did pay attention to sounded interesting if I’d had the whole thing. I’m not so good with piecemeal audio stories. I tend to download them all at once and then listen. I must have a touch of ADD.
Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away.
Oct 14th
Except for the driving part.
Friday night into Saturday was another difficult sleeping night. Got up early and read for awhile, got online and then into the shower. Unfortunately when I got out of the shower, daughter’s bf was standing by the front door and got flashed. I didn’t know he was here and hadn’t shut the bathroom door.
She and I will be having another I’m the parent you’re the child conversation later today.
Anyway, after slamming a couple of doors (that don’t actually SLAM the way the should dammit) I got dressed and got out. I stopped in downtown Mesa at SunDevil Liquors and YAY they did have Strongbow. I got two four-packs, one for the magic (which isn’t actually all that magic) fridge and one for home. Then over to Eliza’s to grab her and then off to the studio.
The grinding and vibrations on the car are a bit worse at this point.
Saw the funniest thing on the highway. A car on a flatbed that had been smushed by a ginormous golf ball! Must be an ad for something but I passed it on the entrance ramp and couldn’t slow down enough in traffic to let it catch up. Oh well.
Minor deposits of thought

Am I crazy or is there a direct correlation between the amount of Mountain Dew someone drinks and the rottenness of their teeth? Just sayin’.
I just got finished watching Quigley Down Under, again. I love this movie but I never seem to think of it when asked about my favorite movies. Its just there.
Even after dissing George Hrab’s podcast months ago, I still listen every time.
I wish my son would call me. I seems so long since I heard his voice. He hasn’t called anyone in a couple of weeks. It just about killed me to walk through Atlanta’s airport with all those people in uniform. I was so tired and everywhere I looked there were groups in BDUs. I just wanted to hug every one of them but some teary woman grabbing soldiers at the airport might have freaked them out, not to mention those people I was traveling with. Boy was I teary. Kind of like now. Shit.
Wingin’ It was just okay yesterday. And now they’re taking a couple of weeks off. WTF am I going to do with my weekends now?
Oh yeah, the visit to the surgeon Friday! We decided that because what was left over after the last infection is so small, we’ll just wait until the next time it gunks up and then remove the rest. Whatever. At least its on their computer that I have an open as-needed appointment so I don’t have to jump through so many hoops next time.
I need to have a conversation with girlchild to remind her how lucky she is and that she better not give me shit when I ask for a little cash for gas. She’s the only one of her girlfriends that is even allowed to drive much less have as much freedom with a car. If she wants the right to snark she needs to pay for it. I’ve been too nice again. She made some snide comment about me not being about to pay for her dentist appointment and how that’s a parent’s responsibility. Well, technically it is . . . but since her father isn’t paying any child support (yet) maybe she should BITCH AT HIM instead.
Mr. Deity
Sep 13th
I have spent the last couple of hours watching Mr. Deity. This is fricking hilarious. There are 10 regular video episodes plus a couple of podcast interviews and I soooo recommend them.
They’re short, averaging four minutes and every one is funny. Religious people will love it and atheists like me will love it. In fact, he’s got a quote from Michael Shermer on his website.
Go.
My Personal 7th Son Theory

Kilroy 2.0 is John Alpha. The reason he’s so bonkers is he’s psyjacked or downloaded or split or whatevered himself so many times that his root personality is fractured. He’s brilliant, but brains doesn’t necessarily equal personality. So Kilroy 2.0 is literally everywhere.
How about them apples?
An actual update.

Nothing is happening.

No, seriously. Biding my time. I did a bunch of running around the last few days and got very little accomplished.
I called Buck and politely mentioned that I’d filled out a child support worksheet on their website and his payments will be around $490 a month. I explained how easy it was, I just plugged in my income and his income and Ginnie’s age and that’s just about it and it pops up a number. And he got all pissy like I just pulled some magic number out of my ass. Then he sends $40 home with Ginnie the next day. Dumbass. That’s not why I called him. I was just giving him an information update.
I’ve been trying to get out more. I popped into Charlie the Beer Guy‘s little Beer 101/tasting class at Whole Foods in Tempe and tasted a whole slew of beers. Not as many as some other people, but it was easier than the one or two beers he brings to try out when he comes to Wingin’ It 3D. All that and I still didn’t find something I loved.
And I haven’t been able to find my Smirnoff Twisted V Black Cherry. Yet another product I’ve loved that was discontinued.
I did the usual stuff today, but I made a cherry jello pie to take with me and it went over quite well, thankyouverymuch. After I dropped machinegirl at home I stopped by Bill Heard Chevrolet (and as I look up that link I realize there are quite a few Bill Heard dealerships out there) because they advertised a credit amnesty weekend. Supposedly no matter how bad your credit or how much you owe, they’ll give you credit amnesty. No such luck. I owe too much, though my credit isn’t as bad as I first thought. She’s gonna keep trying. Sure.
And tonight I went to the AZ Podcasters meetup. I went to their last meeting and really liked Dan and CJ, from the Love Long and Prosper podcast, and CJ does a Mighty Mommy podcast, too.
Oh, and I received an envelope from snowcalla in the mail today. Thank you and I can’t wait to see you FRIDAY MORNING SQEEEEEE!!!!111!!!11
Today wasn’t a bad day at all.
No subject imagination today.
Jul 16th
Yesterday we spent the day in our separate rooms avoiding each other. Today I’m back to craigslist looking for something for Ginnie and me in the area. Starting all over. I’m not waiting for him to leave; fuck the lease. Its his buddy who bought this house and HE signed another two-year lease so fuck them both.
Good news, though. Casey suggested we all go on a road trip to Flagstaff this weekend. And not just because my car has A/C, but because we have fun road trips. Gin wants to take Corey. So the um, seven of us are trooping up on Friday night and coming back on Sunday. Of course that depends entirely upon finding a motel room or two and the hope that their car makes the trip okay. We’ll see. We’re fly by the seat of our pants road trip people. Plan ahead? Where’s the fun in that?
But I’ll be missing the recording of Wingin It and Kris’ last show before she ships off to south Africa. I really like the new format. We’re still having fun, but its not the free-for-all it was before. There are actual TOPICS!!!!11!!! I still miss Evo and Sheila, but I think we’re adapting quite well.
Thought for the day: Subtext is an anagram of Buttsex.
Weekend Update, Live with Regis and er, nope, just me.
Jul 9th
Friday: I really tried. I ventured into Second Life again to attend the launch party for the third 7th Son book. I got there about an hour before the party started, managed to get stuck in a corner of the auditorium and had to restart. The whole program is so frustrating to me. I don’t play those kinds of online games so I’m unfamiliar (and impatient) with how to move. I managed to find a place to stand around, but I couldn’t see the plane JC arrived in, I have no idea about the dump truck mentioned, and when every one transferred to the water tower to watch it blow up, I was frozen in the elevator shaft and had to reboot again. By the time I got back, the thing had apparently exploded, there was a group standing at the base and all they were saying was we’d crashed Second Life and everyone was giving up. Oh, and there was an enormous yellow dump truck blinking in and out. What a waste of time that whole night.
Saturday: Casey called to say he’d bought a truck (with no driver’s license?) and that I didn’t need to pick up Kira so I assumed that meant I wasn’t expected to babysit either. So I went up to the studio and sat in on the new Wingin’ It 3-D. We chatted food for a while afterward, watched Fight Club but I can’t talk about because the first rule of Fight Club is, don’t talk . . . whatever. That movie is so full of bullshit. Must be a guy thing. Anyway, we all went out to Sushi Brokers (oh wow! Mouse over the logo, it’s COOL!) where I had chicken fried rice, of course. I have tried some varieties of sushi and am completely happy with my chicken fried rice, thank you very much.
When I got home just before 10, there was Buck rocking Kira to sleep. Oops. I didn’t know we were babysitting after all.
Sunday: Spent a nice morning playing with Kira.
Max called, he’s fine. Wants me to send him certain pictures so I spent Kira’s naptime searching and not finding them.
Casey, Renee, Sara and Casey’s long time friends Ed and Mikey-O came over for a swim and so Buck could check out the A/C (or lack thereof) on their new vehicle. We had a nice afternoon in the pool and then Ginnie and Casey ran out for pizza. Then they all left and I finished a book I’d been reading.
Just another weekend.
