What I didn’t mention in yesterday’s post was that after Wingin’ It we recorded a memorial show for Joe. I mean, his death was inevitable and Mur was there and waiting until after would have been too painful. Nice memories, show excerpts, and a song or two dedicated to our Joe.

I got it (an NC-17 on the link). Buck wanted to cheer me up yesterday so we stopped at The Hustler store on the way home from dropping Casey’s little family. After perusing their entire wall of lubricants* I beelined right to the glass cases of “glassware.” They didn’t have the exact one I wanted on display, but when I pointed out a similar one, the guy (how secure do you have to be to discuss this stuff with a middle-aged chubby woman without batting an eye) went into the secret storage area and found the one I wanted. And it was much cheaper than I thought it was gonna be. Scored twice on that trip.
Friday was bonus cash day. My payday, Buck’s payday AND another chunk of our tax return hit the bank overnight. I’m sure the bank was thrilled. They’re very patient with my tendency to live in the red zone. Well, not exactly patient, they DO charge me for it. I could prolly pay off the war effort with my overdraft fees in the last year.
Gotta take Kira to the docs for her shots today. Maybe to Target to peruse the sales racks.
*I’m planning an entire post on lubricants so stay tuned.
Oh yeah, I bought my copy of Ancestor yesterday, too.
Another long frakking Saturday

Man, am I tired.
Woke this morning with the baby. Breakfasted, she and me took a shower, snuggled a while and then I dumped her at Casey’s friend’s house.
Stopped by the hospice to see Joe and he was out of it. His Dad says they’ve upped his drugs again so there’s likely no chance he’ll be awake/aware again. Asked his Dad to let Joe know I stopped by if he does.
Then over to Draco Vista, where we ladies gathered to decide on the OhMiBod contest winners and commiserate. Met Mighty Mur and we all recorded Wingin’ It. Everyone’s kind of down. It’s the last one for a while until the whole Joe thing is over and everyone is ready to get back into it. They’ve created a Joe Murphy Memorial Fund if you want to donate and haven’t done so yet.
I got talked into going with the gang to dinner (not too much arm twisting) to some sushi place. Where of course, I had a hamburger. snowcalla, you’d be so proud of me, I did try a couple bites of something I couldn’t pronounce. It was gross³, but I did try. Then back to Michael’s for more music and head-shaving and memories of Joe time.
I drove through the parking lots of a couple of pool halls on the way home, just in case I’d get a chance to spy on the old man. NO such luck, he’d left a note here at home that he’d gone someplace in Snottsdale tonight instead of the usual places. I just want some kind of proof or facts or final decision fodder or something.

I finally called her yesterday.
Guilt won out.
She’s fine. Back to normal. Has most of the financial crap under control and bought a new phone so as soon as she gets a new phone card she can call me. See? All the worrying was for nothing.
And then I got stupid and mentioned that even though I don’t have any room for her here, if I knew how much income they had I could maybe start looking at assisted living places around here. She’s gonna let me know. And Buck’s eyes got HUGE and he’s pointing his finger at me so I suggested that there were plenty of those kinds of places in FL, too. That way they could still be around their friends, right?
Right.
Casey got this chair for Kira. She’s so cute sitting up in it! It’s made of pretty hefty foam rubber so its soft and still sturdy.

I finally got that video finished and burned to DVD for Sky, and now I’ve loaded up on MySpace. So if you have an extra 14 minutes there’s tons of pictures of the baby, right up to our trip back from the Grand Canyon.

I believe she’s the cutest baby on earth. I know she’s not, she’s fairly average, but I still believe she is.

and Grammi’s back is killing her.
Phone rang, 5:47am, Venus in hospital again with gall bladder bullshit. Went up there after I took Ginnie to school. And I’ve spent the rest of the day with Kira. Bathed and fed and she’s sitting here killing my back. Mini Moose.
I don’t know what’s happening next, but I’m fairly sure I have her for the rest of the night.
