Sweet Sixteen

Ugh. I’m getting old.
My baby girl is sixteen today. I wish I had time to do the day-she-was-born story. Maybe later.
She was born at 4:11 am in Florida so she’s already 16.
College prep

So today we have an appointment after school with Ginnie’s guidance counselor. That girl can be too timid. She has for years talked about becoming a veterinarian, but never sat down with a counselor to make sure she’s picking the right classes, and what else she needs to do to actually go to college. She keeps waiting.
I’m pretty vague about the need to join clubs, do service hours, etc. And I’m not even sure when she needs to start applying or to where. And with me being 100% and permanently disabled, the VA will cover a good chunk of the cost, but I’m not sure about the exacts on that, either.
SO I’m hoping her counselor is up on all that stuff and this isn’t a waste of time. I hate it when I expect someone to be efficient and they’re as dense as a rock.
Annnnnnd I’m spending the day looking up specifics about the VA part. I don’t expect this person to know all that, but she should be able to answer all our other questions. Right? Isn’t that what High School guidance counselors are for?

Apparently this boy is horrible. Very pushy, writing poetry to her, calling constantly, says he loves her, and wants her to wait by her classes so he can walk with her. And they only met yesterday morning!
Not controlling . . . more like pathetically desperate.
He’s in special ed classes, is ugly with huge ears, walks with a limp, sweaty hands, and doesn’t talk unless its online. Oh yeah, he’s also a white boy who dresses like a homey.
Poor Ginnie. She’s too nice and can’t figure out a way to break it off without hurting the little boy’s feelings.
“I hate being nice,” she’s whining.

Max called at 2:17 am this morning. That boy doesn’t get the time difference thing, I swear.
Not that I don’t want/need to hear his voice occasionally, just not at 2:17 am, you know?
Anyway, something about a new cell phone and check the caller ID and dunno how much to call him overseas, etc. I was asleep! I did look at the caller ID this morning and that’s not a real phone number. I guess I’ll email and ask for more info.
She’s shy, and was completely surprised that these boys knew her and also by how many people asked her how she was after missing two days last week. Maybe all this attention will convince her she’s not a fly on the wall of life.
I think that’s it.

Ginnie did pass her third attempt at the test so she now has her official instructional permit.
You know, as little as I like John and as much as I like Aranel, they only seem to post at AMCF when the shit hits the fan for one reason or another. John most certainly is an instigator. Which is all well and good, go for it, but if you want some credibility maybe posting at other times would make their current arguments hold more water. I understand their involvement as it relates to PF, but like I say, maybe being more involved in some aspect of the day-to-day conversations there might balance their attacks. Whatever.
(I don’t post at PF specifically because of John, but I do sometimes wander in to read stuff.)
I’m burning my first compilation CD for our trip. I’m so confused.

I figured out what was wrong with my Semagic. I’d finally deleted the backup folder I had from the last time I reinstalled XP (the only way I could figure out how to get MSWorks Calendar back) and apparently this program will still going in there for dictionary and draft saving.
Wonder what other programs I’m going to have issues with. Humph.
I can’t decide whether I’m a negative person who’s usually in a good mood, or a positive person who tends to look at the dark side of life.
Gyn appointment today. Hopefully this is the day we (Doc and I) decide what exactly we’re gonna do to get rid of my female problems.
