Remember how crazy everyone in England went when Princess Diana died? I do think that the media whips people into a frenzy by making every tidbit of a celebrity's life seem important, but I don't try to justify the connection that fans feel. I cried buckets when Jim Henson died, and he wasn't even what you would call a celebrity. I felt a connection to his work, though, and his death saddened me.Also, a lot of people are able to separate the art from the artist; I guess that is what people did in the case of MJ. I was never a fan of his music, so that is the main reason why all the retrospectives are annoying me. I don’t think Americans are alone in the fanatic business.
