Joe Day Tomorrow
Mar 31st

So I’m reposting this for tomorrow.
Joe Murphy, podcaster and XM Radio personality, passed away April 1, 2007 from the rare cancer leiomyosarcoma.
Jack Mangan asks that we make April 1st Joe Day and use pictures of Joe as our avatars and just generally take time to think about our old friend. Feel free to copy this one I made or make up one of your own.
Beatnik Turtle’s song Mason Rocket was dedicated to Joe. There was a sort-of contest on Wingin’ It to come up with a new nickname for Joe because he thought Joe Murphy just a little plain for podcasting. Mason Rocket was one of his favorite choices and when he died our friend Mur Lafferty had this song commissioned.
One of Joe’s favorite songs was Jonathan Coulton‘s First of May, so we podcasters recorded our own cover in memory of Joe. You can listen to that, too.
If you don’t know who I’m talking about, just know you missed out on a really funny, and really nice guy.

Update on Max
Mar 25th
Max called me Monday morning (and I had a post up here but Casey closed my browser and lost it) and I’ve got a bit of an update.
Tentatively, he and Kela will be here on leave mid-August. He’s not sure of the dates yet. And better yet, sometime in the first two weeks of December he wants to fly us and some of his best friends out to Hawaii for his – get this – wedding.

This is Kela and Max from someone else’s wedding. Probably the best picture I have of them.

Dragon*Con
Mar 23rd
I have unexpectedly and fortunately come into some money so I went ahead and got my Dragon*Con tickets and airfare. Anybody who thinks my priorities are out of whack have no clue how much going every year means to me. Bite me.
Thursday – US Airways Flight 610, leaving here at 9:03 am and arriving ATL 3:41 pm
Monday – returning Flight 70, leaving there at 5:35 pm and arriving here 6:56 pm.
Now, if my friends have thunk ahead and have room reservations, I’m all set. If not, I may not have a room!
Can’t wait til September 3rd!

Joe's Day coming up

I think of Joe quite often.

Sorry @jchutchins, I was out of town
Mar 17th
Holy Crap! I haven’t really been paying attention to my friend JC Hutchins’ latest project. Not due to a lack of any talent on his part mind you, just my own busy not paying attention to anything kind of life. I missed all the lead-in to this! Shame on me.
Go to JC’s website to get more information. I will now.
I feel so stupid.

Castle, the second
Mar 17th
MUCH BETTER!
Second episode was way better then the pilot I talked about last week. In fact, you don’t even have to bother with the first episode as all the important points are covered in this one.
Everyone is much calmer and although there still is absolutely no chemistry between Castle and Beckett, she may eventually grow a personality.
I’m beginning to have real hope for this show. And that’s not just because I’m a huge Nathan Fillion fan. I don’t even consider myself a huge fan. I really like him both as a person and as an actor. I want him to move in next door and hang out. He’s not the Firefly actor I want to attack.
Really!
