We didn’t all vote for Bush (either one).
We didn’t all vote for Clinton either.
We didn’t all want to go to war.
We didn’t all want to stay out of war.
We don’t all drive huge gas guzzling monster vehicles.
We don’t all like the same TV shows.
We don’t all like the same food.
We don’t all travel to other countries and act like assholes.
We don’t all feel the same way about abortions, illegal immigration, or gay marriage.
We aren’t all Christians.
We aren’t all anything.
So all you other people who paint all Americans with the same brush . . .
Fuck you. I’m really sick of hearing it.
Monday Moanings

The boy needs to read. Got in an argument on the phone last night with Casey. He called to ask Gollum’s name before he turned into Gollum. Sméagol. Then he wanted to know what Gollum was. A river Hobbit. Which is where we commenced to arguing. He’s not a Hobbit, Mom. Like I don’t know shit. In the movie he looks human and his friend . . . to which I replied, IN THE BOOK he and his COUSIN were river Hobbits. Oh, yeah! I read the books – quite a long time ago so I might even be wrong, but I’m righter that he is, so there!
Max called at like, 2:30 am to wish me Happy Birthday. Sweetie, thanks! But a nicer sentiment would have been NOT to call me in the middle of the night.
Buck went out this morning and his windshield has this foot-long crack across the driver’s side. Have no idea what started that one, as there is no chip or anything. Unfortunately our glass deductible is $250 so he’s screwed. But after 30 minutes holding on the phone and then hearing that, I went ahead and scheduled the chip repairs on mine. Hopefully they can repair all 5 chips on my windshield because lord knows what a Land Rover HEATED windshield will cost to replace. I hate the heated part (rainbows when driving into the sun) but aren’t we obligated to replace it like it was from the factory?
Had a singing message from my cousin Gerard. He’s so sweet.
I’ve had this stiff neck headache thing periodically for months. Since we were rear-ended way back when. I bitch, I take an Ibuprofen, I get over it. Then yesterday I had this flash memory of my Mother hanging from this white contraption over a door when I was a kid. I had to have been under 6, because we moved from that house then. Then I remembered being in traction after a minor fender thing years ago in VA. I remember having to go to the clinic at the Pentagon during work so I could be in traction (interrupted by phone – #2 son) for x-amount of time every day. Maybe I need traction?
Max just called to apologize about the (interrupted by phone – #1 son) middle of the night call and to tell me Ashley will be calling me . . . and there was machine gun fire in the background. Gee, I love his phone calls. He says they’re just shooting off and not to worry. Swell.
Geesh, Grand Central this morning. Just spoke to Ashley. She’s fine, just a bit of morning sickness. She quit Cracker Barrel and is now working at . . . crud, a restaurant called something 29. Great desserts there, anyway. And medical benefits which will come in handy pretty soon.
Wow, I’m watching this vidcast and there’s actually a real place called Bubba Gump Shrimp Co? Cool!
Happy Birthday to Me Part II
Apr 29th
Well, he got home at 4:11 am and brought me flowers. And Ginnie’s boyfriend called at 7:40 am and woke me up. And then Mom called, niece Brittany called, #1 son called, and all the nice wishes from youse guys cheered me up.
Didn’t do anything special, but we never do. I’m making lasagna for dinner, even though nobody else likes it. Because it’s my Birthday, fer cryin’ out loud!
Just another day.
Sat-ur-day in the park . . . er studio.

Dumped Kira at her house and went on to Draco Vista. Fun fun fun as expected. Really nice to get back into Wingin’ It. Met a new person. Chatted up Michael about the parking issues for the pool party. Suggested Ginnie and/or someone else cheap shuttle people from some nearby parking lot. Evo kept shooting some pellet type gun at me. Chatted in the chat room while we were taping and after. We talked about all kinds of stuff after, too. Fun was had by all.
Just about the time I was ready to come home, we opened the blinds in the studio and voilà! – evil dust storm blowing. So I hung a while longer and now my car looks like crap. And it rolled over 60,000 miles on the way home.
Had cereal for dinner and Buck went out to play pool. Home alone. *sigh*

Boring life updates.

Max called last night and we actually had a halfway long conversation. His Ashley is definitely pregnant, and is organizing her divorce so they can get married when he eventually deploys back to Hawaii. Have I mentioned before that she’s sort-of married? Um, married a fella a few years ago and after two weeks he left her to move to NYC with his boyfriend. Didn’t go over too well in the Bible Belt. She’s just never bothered to annul it or get a divorce until now. Max still hasn’t had official word if his date has changed so they’re all planning on mid-July. He received a package from his Grandmother so I encouraged him to call and say thank you. He even took the time to chat with Buck and Ginnie this time. He usually only calls me and only for a minute or two.
Mom called this morning and Max left a message on her phone because A) the whole time zone thing threw us both off and B) its so much easier than actually talking to her. Apparently leaving a thank you message takes him off the hook.
Took Ginnie for her first pap smear yesterday. This appointment went much better. No preaching. Last appointment we discussed that Gardasil vaccine. He (being a fairly new small business owner) won’t buy it to have in the office because most insurance plans are slow on the reimbursement thing and its pretty expensive. I get that. So he wrote a prescription and said if our insurance covered it I could get it from the pharmacy and he would do the actual injections. The pharmacy I went to checked with our insurance company and were told that the doctor has to go through regular channels and would be reimbursed at a formulaic level, which according to the doctor yesterday is not much. O-K? So right now, every is waiting for the insurance companies to get on board.
There was an episode of something (er?) where the 12-year-old character needed a parent’s permission for the school nurse to give it to her. There’s a current battle in Texas, flopping back and forth to make it mandatory (like other vaccines) for all 12-13 year old girls.
Like there’s this big surge to rush every girl to get this and some people are like, wait a minute! I’m in the wait a minute camp myself. There’s too much history of seemingly wonderful drugs being approved and finding out too late that they have serious side-effects. I scoff at the whole promotes sexual promiscuity argument, but this is really pushing through too fast in some states and with not enough actual debate about the other aspects.
Max’s ex-girlfriend read on my LJ about their relationship and baby.
An old boyfriend is now catching up on my LJ.
My old neighbor reads it.
I have two separate groups on my friend’s page – white people are old Kitchen Table friends, and blue people are through the podcasting community. And then there’s I-don’t-know-how-many people who read it now who don’t comment so I don’t know they’re there – which is just a little bit creepy. Oh NOOOO! Peeping Tom and/or Tammy! Kidding.
Either I have to stop posting or someone is eventually going to get their feelings hurt. I’m blunt. I’ve struggled for years with the old adage – if you don’t have anything nice to say – and I fail. Just know that I’m not evil or intentionally hurtful.
Oh . . . what a cute Kiwi animation! I don’t get it.

I can’t tell you how many months I’ve had this keyboard. It has all these extra buttons on the sides and across the top. I figured out the ones on the left side work for cut/copy/paste shortcuts, but I never bother to try the stupid buttons across the top until now. They are the rw/ff/stop/pause/play and volume controls for whatever program you’re running at the moment. And they work when I’m playing a full-screen game so I don’t have to scramble to pause or volume control when something else comes up.
