Ginnie did pass her third attempt at the test so she now has her official instructional permit.
You know, as little as I like John and as much as I like Aranel, they only seem to post at AMCF when the shit hits the fan for one reason or another. John most certainly is an instigator. Which is all well and good, go for it, but if you want some credibility maybe posting at other times would make their current arguments hold more water. I understand their involvement as it relates to PF, but like I say, maybe being more involved in some aspect of the day-to-day conversations there might balance their attacks. Whatever.
(I don’t post at PF specifically because of John, but I do sometimes wander in to read stuff.)
I’m burning my first compilation CD for our trip. I’m so confused.

Regular update – nothing special

Ginnie failed her second attempt at the written portion of her driver’s test. I dunno if she just thinks it will be easy so she’s not studying for real, or as she says, she’s just lousy at tests. Our “written” parts are now computerized and not timed, so I tell her to take her time, we go over questions before she goes and she STILL missed easy ones. But really, if you can’t handle the stress of the stupid test, how can you expect to handle the stress of a semi crowding your lane at 70 mph, or some schmuck running the red light when your’s is green, etc.
I’m planning a jaunt to Tucson this weekend. Originally, it was supposed to be me, Ginnie and Leticia, but I vetoed that when Casey said he wanted to go. I haven’t taken Casey (and Sky) on a road trip since he was little, so I got mean and had Ginnie un-invite Leticia. So we’re going to Biosphere 2, some cavern, Pima Air and Space Museum (and maybe the airplane graveyard, I dunno) and some water park. Its all to give Ginnie some highway drive time, but if she doesn’t pass her test today – on her third try – she ain’t driving.
Lets see, what else?

'Puter woes

Where-a oh where-a is szara? I’ve been thinking about her for days, and the last time she posted anything *I* can see is 6/21/06. Has she disappeared off the face of the earth or is she just filtering stuff to a list I can’t see?

Anyways, she’s got a comment on MSN messenger about Live no longer being beta. I downloaded it and so far I haven’t noticed any big changes, except people’s teeny little icons don’t show up in the list anymore. I miss those. And more skin color choices, which I could live without.
The real problem, and maybe shadynights can suggest an answer, is after I reformatted MY computer I lost my home network connections. I’ve re-installed the router stuff and the modem stuff, but I still get a “Wizard cannot find your network hardware” error. I haven’t physically unhooked anything and it all worked before but no matter what directions I follow, other than unwiring and rewiring everything, nothing works. I seriously don’t want to crawl around under/behind this enormous computer desk to unplug/replug a bunch of wires – that’s bullshit. Is there any other way? Am I missing some easy obvious step?

Accomplished today:
Followed Buck (in Tempe) to drop off his truck for service.
Drove him (to Chandler) to work.
Drove Ginnie to the Mesa MVD to get her instructional permit. She failed, though it seemed most everyone did while we were sitting there.
Drove Ginnie to the SS office to get a replacement SSN card cuz I can’t find hers.
Hour and a half later, drove to Girl A’s house to pick up stuff Girl B forgot.
Drove to Staples to Fax insurance information to my auto finance company AGAIN.
Drove home.
Napped.
To do next:
Drive to Casey’s to get stuff Ginnie forgot there (SHOES!).
Drive them to the mall so they can go to the movies.
Drive to Buck’s work and pick him up.
Drive home.
Didn’t have energy for:
Taking MY car to dealership to order new brake light cover.
Maybe tomorrow.

Due out July 11th, I spotted a copy over at Draco Vista Studios yesterday. They get copies early for Dragon Page Cover to Cover. There’s a good synopsis at the Random House page. Not beating a path to get a copy, but I’ll probably end up on the waiting list at the library.
Should he call his books Dragon anything when there’s barely any dragons in them?
Today was an interesting day.
Jun 24th
The morning was no big shits, except I actually took a shower when I was home alone. Which I never do. Seriously, have you seen Psycho?
Then I went to Draco Vista Studios to hang out. And Michael talked me into actually speaking up. So if you download the Wingin’ It feed coming up this week you’ll hear my sad, weeny little voice. I just started getting the hang of speaking directly into the mike and it was time to go.
Twas fun!
Then I picked up Ginnie from Casey’s and headed towards home. The 101 to the 202 was all screwed up construction-wise so I took the 60 home and it slowed down and eventually stopped due to construction, too. Some Chickie came down an entrance ramp a bit too fast and slammed into my ass. I was like, watching her in the rear view mirror and knew it was coming. Fuck. So I pull as far over as I can (3 whole inches left next to the concrete barricades) and send Ginnie back to tell her to take the next exit and also check out my rear. She said she didn’t see anything, but I could see in my mirror that Chickie’s front end was screwed. So we pull into a shopping center at the next exit and I must say:
I LOVE MY FUCKING CAR! GO LAND ROVER!
Oh, the right-bottom brake light cover is a little chipped away, but I saw no other damage. Her Ford Focus on the other hand, was fucked. The hood, windshield, bumper, both headlights and grill were crunched bad! Poor kid. But, she accepts full blame, we’re both cheerful about it and she says she’ll pay for my brake light cover. No sweat.
Can’t wait to see how the rest of the night goes. Buck’s going out to play pool so maybe he’ll hustle tons of money.
Hump day

Well, not exactly hump, more like he-tried-and-failed day. And now they’ve called him into work.
Doc called, my EKG and X-ray were peachy but I’m a bit anemic so he’s sending iron for me to take before the surgery. Its a good thing I got all that done right away so there’s time to get my blood all hard and irony.
Maybe that’s what hubby needs to harden his . . . never mind. I do believe he’s one step closer to agreeing to see a doctor, too.
Guess what’s on TV? Dirk Benedict at his finest. He’s so pretty . . . that is, until Strother Martin turns him into a giant snake. Yup. Ssssss! Woo baby.
And now I shall spend the afternoon nursing my headache and playing Zoo Tycoon.

Jun 19th
Got to Phoenix Memorial Hosp for mammogram 30 minutes early, and even though I told them to take their time, I was in and out before 1:30! Niiiice.
So we zoomed to the other side of downtown to the VA hospital before 2, got my blood work done, popped across the hall to the x-ray for a chest film, and across the hospital to get the EKG and was out of there by 3! DAYUM! Now that’s what medical care should be like for everyone. No sitting in around for 12 hours on MY account.
The only bad part was running all over town in 107° heat and no deodorant. Can’t use deodorant when you’re getting a mammogram. That and being in a black-on-black car w/leather seats. My poor A/C just can’t fight that midday heat.
So, I’ve been baked, squished, poked, radiated, and wired today. Then I got a nap.
Tomorrow I have to get up early and take Venus to the lab for her blood work and then to an appointment. I think Ginnie’s staying over there the rest of the week so I don’t have to share my computer for a few days.
Except Buck’s shop won’t officially open until Thursday so he thinks he’s sitting around here til then. I have got to find something for him to do.
