First Day at work . . .
Oct 31st
. . . kicked my ass. Started at 11:30 and left at 5:28. My knees hurt, my ankles hurt, I’m starving and I just wanna keel over. But I have to get through Halloween tonight, pick Ginnie up at 9:30 and then I can die.

Happy Halloweeeeeeeeeeeeeen
P.S. I think I start my job today. She’s supposed to call, either today or tomorrow, as soon as my background check is done.

I tried szara‘s Cat Parent thingy, but the first question (where does your cat sleep?) didn’t have any appropriate answers . . . like under the wheels of my car, or in the middle of HWY 495 . . . so I quit right away. My heart is broken.
I feel much better now that my meds are back in force. That small child that was sitting on my chest finally went home. Maybe now I should get off my dead ass and doing something about the floors in this house. Seriously, you’d think I didn’t even own a vacuum.
The house across the street is up for rent again. It emptied shortly after we moved in, then a family (bunches o’ kids) moved in for a month, then left in the middle of the night. It sat empty for another month and then I think a mixed-race couple moved in. I dunno, but they had a huge friggin’ dog. They lasted a month but moved out last weekend. I finally ran into the owner this morning. He doesn’t understand it either.
Max called this morning to get the phone number of the Justice Court here. I’d forwarded a notice of warrant when he didn’t show up for his court date, and he really needs to get that taken care of. Hopefully he can just pay another fine and be off the hook. He’d paid up on the last one before he left. AND he got his package Wednesday (as USPS promised), but his training officer confiscated the three packages of socks (dude didn’t specify color and I picked wrong) and the one little package of Tic-Tacs I’d sent. He also took the air freshener Max had requested because it was aerosol – something about using it to get high. Like they have any unsupervised time in basic training? I sure didn’t. No comment about sending money so we can go to his graduation. I’m betting he rethinks that after I sent the Expedia.com estimate of $1,580.
If you don’t get justbob1982‘s LJ, there’s a post on shandy. Its a mix of lager and lemonade (although I think soda water can be used) – as defined by someone I don’t know. Does that sound like the nastiest shit imaginable to anyone else?
Wonderful Hubby

Actually took the morning off work and forced me (by bullying and driving) to go into Phoenix to pick up my meds – which were actually READY! GO VA! Plus he put enough gas in the tank so I can go get my TB test checked tomorrow, too. I knew he was holding out on me. He always holds out enough of his check cuz I go through money like water.
He made dinner last night, which . . . although seems really nice on the surface . . . was a pain. The man has absolutely no patience with pasta. I like mine cooked and he’s happy enough to be able to bite through it. I hate when macaroni sticks to my teeth.
I do love my Honey. *sigh*
The good, the bad and the ugly
Oct 26th
The good: I got the JOB! Start Monday, unless something hinky comes up with my fingerprints, which it won’t. Or the TB test spot turns red. So, Monday or Tuesday at the latest, I start at Children’s World. The first two weeks I’ll be rotating, covering people on breaks, and taking the older kids after school. Then I’ll move into the 2-3 year olds. (I can just feel brownridercat cringing at the thought of a room full of ‘em.) Is $9 an hour to start reasonable? 10:00 am til closing (6:30ish) five days a week.
The bad: I still don’t have my meds. I called today and apparently the Doctor never approved the next year’s refills so it’ll be a few more days. Maybe the pharmacy will call when they’re ready, and maybe they won’t. They don’t as a rule, but me being out of one and the doctor screwing up makes them a little nicer.
The good: I had Ginnie cut 4 inches off my hair the other day.
The bad: My gas tank is on E, I have $7 to my name until Monday, and it’s gonna be a long weekend.
Oh yeah, the ugly. Look at my avatar. :p

The medication refills I requested on the 12th still haven’t arrived. I’ve been out of my Advair 500/50 (hint: the strongest they make) since Friday morning’s dose. It’s fun finding out the hard way which of my medications are the most important. If I skip or am too late on a dose of my theophylline, I get massive headaches. If I skip or miss a dose of Accolate, it’s not really noticeable, except it’s the pain-in-the-ass one with food limitations. But missing this Advair is extremely noticeable. I’ve been pretty much sitting all weekend, no physical exertion, and depending a lot on my Albuterol inhaler. All the VA pharmacist can tell me is it’s in the mail or I can drive into Phoenix to pick up another. Thanx, I’ll wait a couple more days.
So Ginnie decides to do her nails last night. Like I haven’t had this conversation with her before. Yes, I’m especially sensitive to nail polish remover, she must do this outside. “I only opened the bottle once, Mom, geeze. I can’t believe you can smell that!” complete with eye rolling. So how did I know IN MY ROOM with the DOOR CLOSED, that she’d even opened the bottle in her room with the door closed? Hmmm. I must be psychic, too.
Or maybe it gets into the ventilation?

Am I old because I like Michael BublĂ©? I mean, not for hours, but I like his singing style on these cover songs. I love “Home.”
I went through a Josh Groban phase last year. You know, specific songs . . . in English . . . and not that operatic crap.
Mostly I listen to 70s/80s rock with and little easy listening on the side. But once in a while there’s a particular song that pops up everywhere, so you check out what else they have. It’s usually a one-hit-wonder or a fluke, but I think these two artists do have a lot of talent.
No apologies.
